Halloween CAL - Towel Toppers

Pumpkin-

Use black yarn to make eyes and mouth to make it a jack o' lantern.



Ghost-
White and Black Yarn
I hook
1 Button
1 small plastic kid's bracelet (used to be called Jelly Bracelets) or a wire ring 3"
or make a 3" circle with doubled yarn
Yarn needle
Towel of choice

Front of Ghost:
White Yarn and I hook-
Chain 4
12 DC into 4 chain from hook. Join with slip stitch. (12 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC each stitch around. Join with Slip Stitch (24 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next stitch 2 DC in next stitch Continue around * Join with slip stitch. (36DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next 2 stitches 2 DC in the next stitch. Continue around * Join with slip stitch(48DC)
Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.



Back of ghost:
White Yarn-
Chain 4
12 DC into 4 chain from hook. Join with slip stitch. (12 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC each stitch around. Join with Slip Stitch (24 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next stitch 2 DC in next stitch Continue around * Join with slip stitch. (36DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next 2 stitches 2 DC in the next stitch. Continue around * Join with slip stitch(48DC)
Fasten off yarn and leave long tail to sew back to front.

Towel Ring:
With white yarn-
Attach yarn to ring/bracelet.
Single crochet around the ring/bracelet.
Chain 1
Slip stitch around each stitch around.
Fasten off and leave long tail to attach to the ghost.
Sew top 1/2 of Ring/Bracelet to the 3 round of the back of the ghost.

Place front and back of ghost together and sew 1/2 way around ghost leaving bottom open.

Eyes and mouth-
Black yarn:

Eyes-
Chain 3
6 HDC in 3rd chain from hook.
Fasten off and attach to ghost.

Mouth-
Chain 4
8 DC in 4th chain from hook.
Fasten off and attach to ghost.




Hanger
Attach white yarn to top of ghost and work 7 SC across top.(7sc)
*Turn Chain 2 HDC across row (7hdc)
Repeat * for 4 rows
Turn Chain 2 HDC decrease the first 2 stitches HDC the next 3 stitches HDC decrease the last 2 stitches (5hdc)
Turn Chain 2 HDC in each stitch across row (5hdc)
Turn Chain 2 HDC in the first stitch Chain 2 Skip the next 2 stitches. HDC in the last 2 stitches (3 hdc 2 chains)
Turn Chain 1 SC in each stitch across including chain 2. (5sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sew button to the bottom of the back of the hanger. ***If you are using a decorative button. Sew button to the bottom of the front of the hanger.***
Fold hanger in half and fasten to button.




Black Cat, Spider, Witch's Cauldron and Bat Towel Topper-
Black, pink, grey Yarn
I hook
1 Button
1 small plastic kid's bracelet (used to be called Jelly Bracelets) or a wire ring 3"
or make 3" circle from double yarn- make a chain and join to make circle.
Yarn needle
towel of choice

Front of topper:
black Yarn and I hook-
Chain 4
12 DC into 4 chain from hook. Join with slip stitch. (12 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC each stitch around. Join with Slip Stitch (24 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next stitch 2 DC in next stitch Continue around * Join with slip stitch. (36DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next 2 stitches 2 DC in the next stitch. Continue around * Join with slip stitch(48DC)
Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.



Back of topper:
Black Yarn-
Chain 4
12 DC into 4 chain from hook. Join with slip stitch. (12 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC each stitch around. Join with Slip Stitch (24 DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next stitch 2 DC in next stitch Continue around * Join with slip stitch. (36DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next 2 stitches 2 DC in the next stitch. Continue around * Join with slip stitch(48DC)
Fasten off yarn and leave long tail to sew back to front.

Towel Ring:
With black yarn-
Attach yarn to ring/bracelet.
Single crochet around the ring/bracelet.
Chain 1
Slip stitch around each stitch around.
Fasten off and leave long tail to attach to the topper.
Sew top 1/2 of Ring/Bracelet to the 3 round of the back of the topper.

Place front and back of toppers together and sew 1/2 way around topper leaving bottom open.

Mummy-
White, grey, black, red yarn
I hook
1 Button

Or make a 3" circle with doubled yarn chain slip stitched to make circle.

Front of mummy:
white Yarn and I hook-
Chain 4
12 DC into 4 chain from hook. Join with slip stitch. (12 DC)

grey yarn:
Chain 3
2 DC each stitch around. Join with Slip Stitch (24 DC)

white yarn:
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next stitch 2 DC in next stitch Continue around * Join with slip stitch. (36DC)
Chain 3
2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next 2 stitches 2 DC in the next stitch. Continue around * Join with slip stitch(48DC)
Fasten off yarn and weave in ends.



Back of mummy:

Sew top 1/2 of Ring/Bracelet to the 3 round of the back of the mummy.

Place front and back of mummy together and sew 1/2 way around mummy leaving bottom open.

Make 2 black eyes and sew on.  Sew a red mouth on.

Hanger
Attach white yarn to top of mummy and work 7 SC across top.(7sc)
*Turn Chain 2 HDC across row (7hdc)
Repeat * for 4 rows
Turn Chain 2 HDC decrease the first 2 stitches HDC the next 3 stitches HDC decrease the last 2 stitches (5hdc)

Back of skull:

2 DC in first stitch * 1 DC in next 2 stitches 2 DC in the next stitch. Continue around * Join with slip stitch(48DC)
Fasten off yarn and leave long tail to sew back to front.

Towel Ring:
With white yarn-
Attach yarn to ring/bracelet.

Fasten off and leave long tail to attach to the ghost.
Sew top 1/2 of Ring/Bracelet to the 3 round of the back of the skull.

Place front and back of skull together and sew 1/2 way around skull leaving bottom open.

Make 2 black eyes and sew one.  With black sew some black spaces for the teeth.

Hanger
Attach white yarn to top of skull and work 7 SC across top.(7sc)
*Turn Chain 2 HDC across row (7hdc)
Repeat * for 4 rows
Turn Chain 2 HDC decrease the first 2 stitches HDC the next 3 stitches HDC decrease the last 2 stitches (5hdc)
Turn Chain 2 HDC in each stitch across row (5hdc)
Turn Chain 2 HDC in the first stitch Chain 2 Skip the next 2 stitches. HDC in the last 2 stitches (3 hdc 2 chains)
Turn Chain 1 SC in each stitch across including chain 2. (5sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sew button to the bottom of the back of the hanger. ***If you are using a decorative button. Sew button to the bottom of the front of the hanger.***
Fold hanger in half and fasten to button.

Frankenstein's Monster-
Green, White and Black Yarn
I hook
1 Button
1 small plastic kid's bracelet (used to be called Jelly Bracelets) or a wire ring 3"
or make a 3" circle with doubled yarn
Yarn needle
Towel of choice

Make 2-
Green yarn:
Row 1
Chain 20
1 HDC in 3rd chain from hook,
1 HDC in each chain.

Row 2-7
Turn chain 3
1 DC in each stitch across.
Fasten off green and attach black yarn

Row 8-9
Turn chain 2
HDC in each stitch across.
Fasten off.

make 2 eyes, mouth and 2 bolts and sew on the front of Monster.

Towel Ring:
With green yarn-
Attach yarn to ring/bracelet.
Single crochet around the ring/bracelet.
Chain 1
Slip stitch around each stitch around.
Fasten off and leave long tail to attach to the monster.
Sew top 1/2 of Ring/Bracelet to the 6th round of the back of the monster.

Sew back of monster to front of monster.

Hanger-
Attach black yarn to top of monster and work 7 SC across top.(7sc)
*Turn Chain 2 HDC across row (7hdc)
Repeat * for 4 rows
Turn Chain 2 HDC decrease the first 2 stitches HDC the next 3 stitches HDC decrease the last 2 stitches (5hdc)
Turn Chain 2 HDC in each stitch across row (5hdc)
Turn Chain 2 HDC in the first stitch Chain 2 Skip the next 2 stitches. HDC in the last 2 stitches (3 hdc 2 chains)
Turn Chain 1 SC in each stitch across including chain 2. (5sc)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
