Back to School - 2 Patterns

Hello everybody,

Here are two patterns for Back to School.

The second pattern can be made for kids or adults- Lunch Sack/Bag

 I would like to thank Aurora who tested these patterns for me and helped my find my "blond" moment writing the pattern out.


Pencil Pouch/Case
Yarn  colors of choice
1 button

F & I hooks

Yarn and I hook:
Chain 19

2 hdc in 3rd chain from hook.
1 hdc in next 15 chains
5 hdc in last chain

Now working on back of chain.
1 hdc in next 15 loops
3 hdc in last loop
Slip stitch to first hdc

Chain 2
1 hdc in same stitch
2 hdc in next stitch
1 hdc in next 15 stitches
*2 hdc in next stitch 1 hdc in next stitch*  Repeat *-* twice
1 hdc in next 15 stitches
2 hdc in next stitch
1 hdc in next 2 stitches
slip stitch to beginning hdc

*Chain 2
1 hdc in each stitch around. Slip stitch to beginning hdc.*

Repeat *-* 4 times

Turn Chain 2
1 hdc in the 20 stitches across row.

Turn Chain 2
HDC decrease in first 2 stitches
*1 HDC in next 2 stitches
HDC decrease in next 2 stitches*
Repeat *-* till the last 3 stitches
Skip one stitch
HDC decrease in last 2 stitches.

Turn Chain 2
HDC decrease in first 2 stitches
HDC decrease across till last 3 stitches
Skip one stitch
HDC decrease in last 2 stitches.

Turn Chain 2
HDC decrease across row.

Turn Chain 4
Slip stitch to last stitch in row.
To form the button hole.

Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sew on button.  
Or you can use velcro and skip making the button hole.  Just attach velcro for closure.
To make a minion case/pouch like in the picture-
Eye-
F hook and black yarn
Chain 2
6 sc in second chain from hook Join with slip stitch to the beginning
Fasten off black yarn and attach white
Chain 2
2 hdc in each stitch around Join with slip stitch to the beginning.
Fasten off white yarn and attach gray
Chain 2
1 hdc in first stitch
*2 hdc in next stitch, 1 sc in next
*Repeat around
Join with slip stitch to the beginning.
Fasten off yarn and leave tail to sew eye onto case/pouch.

Sew eye onto back of the case/pouch.

Attach black yarn to side of the eye and single crochet across the row.
Fasten off and weave in end.

Attach black yarn to opposite side of eye and do the same as above.


Elmo- use red yarn and make two eyes
Shrek or Oscar the Grouch- green and two eyes. make ears and horns for shrek and attach to top.
Scooby doo - brown and two eyes, make ears and attach to top of pouch/case.
Woody or Buzz- beige with cowboy hat on top, grey and blue
Endless posibilites with different combinations of colors

You could also make just a plain one in favorite color and add embellishments to the pouch/case. 






Crocheted Lunch Sack/Bag

Yarn of choice
I hook
Yarn needle
Button or Velcro

Sides Make 2-

Chain 26
Row 1: 1 Hdc 3rd chain from hook - 1 HDC in each chain across row
Row 2-3:Turn Chain 2  1 HDC in each stitch across
Row 4:Turn Chain 2   1 HDC in back loop only of each stitch across
Row 5-6: Turn Chain 2 1 HDC in each stitch across- both loops
Fasten off leave long tail for sewing.

Front/Bottom/Back

Chain 20
Row 1: 1 Hdc 3rd chain from hook - 1 HDC in each chain across row
Row 2-18:Turn Chain 2  1 HDC in each stitch across
Row 19:Turn Chain 2   1 HDC in back loop only of each stitch across
Row 20-21: Turn Chain 2 1 HDC in each stitch across- both loops
Row 22:Turn Chain 2  1 HDC in front loop only of each stitch across
Row 23-24:Turn Chain 2 1 HDC in each stitch across- both loops
Row 25:Turn Chain 2   1 HDC in back loop only of each stitch across
Row 26-42:Turn Chain 2  1 HDC in each stitch across
Fasten off weave in ends.

Sew sides to the Front/Bottom/Back.  Make sure that you sew the sides so they fold towards the inside.


After sewing on the sides attach yarn to the top of the bag/sack at a corner and single crochet evenly around the top.

Turn Chain 2
Row 1-8: 1 HDC in each stitch across the row in back loops only
Row 9:
If you are going to be adding a button-
Slip stitch across to the middle of the row,
Chain 6(buttonhole), Slip stitch in each stitch to the end of row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

If you are going to use velcro instead-
Slip stitch in each stitch across
Fasten off and weave in ends.

If you want a decorative row-
First choice-
Chain 2, HDC, 2 chain, 2 HDC in first stitch
*Skip next stitch
2 HDC, 2 Chain, 2 HDC in next stitch.*
Repeat *-* till end of row.
Fasten off and weave in ends

Second choice-
SC,HDC,SC in first stitch
Slip Stitch in next stitch
SC,HDC,SC in next stitch
Continue pattern across row.
Fasten off weave in ends.

Optional Straps:
Short-
Chain 52
1 HDC in 3rd Chain from hook
1 HDC in each chain
Fasten off.  Attach to each side of bag/sack

Long-
Chain 102
1 HDC in 3rd Chain from hook
1 HDC in each chain
Fasten off.  Attach to each side of bag/sack


Embellish to your taste. Beads, buttons, patches, etc.


Minion- Yellow yarn, make and sew on eye or eyes(pattern from pencil case)
Elmo- Red yarn, eyes, nose, and mouth
Scooby- Brown yarn, eyes, nose, mouth and ears
Shrek or Oscar the Grouch- Green yarn, eyes, nose, mouth, ears
Camo- regular, pink, blue
Princess pink with glittery embellishments
Black with pirates/skulls
