Basic All Over Bib

Items made from these patterns are not to be sold. Personal or charitable purposes only.
I only sale ready made of these to defer costs of material and shipping charges for my charity work.

These are the untested patterns for my Basic All Over Bib.
Sizes Small Preemie to 12 months.

Coming soon will be the more fancy bibs with all the fringes and frills. Including character bibs, Halloween costume bibs, Christmas costume bibs, etc.

All over bib-

Small Preemie-  F hook
Medium Preemie- G hook
Large Preemie/Small Newborn- H hook
Newborn- H or I hook
3-6 months- I hook
6-9 months- J hook
9-12 months- J or K hook



You can adjust the size by making more or less rows-
Small preemie: Neck to Feet- 10 1/2"  Chest- 4"
Medium Preemie: Neck to Feet- 14 1/4" Chest- 5"
Large Preemie: Neck to Feet- 14 1/2 to 15" Chest- 5 1/2 to 6"
Newborn: Neck to Feet- 17"  Chest- 7 1/4"
0-3 months: Neck to Feet- 17 to 19"  Chest- 7 1/4 to 8 1/4"
3-6 months: Neck to Feet- 19 to 21"  Chest- 8 1/4 to 9 1/4"
6-9 months: Neck to Feet- 20 to 22"  Chest- 9 to 10"
9-12 months: Neck to Feet- 22 to 24" Chest- 10 to 11"

If baby is available to measure-
Neck to Feet- place tape measure at bottom of head and measure to top of foot/ankle.
Chest- measure from armpit to armpit.



Small(F), Medium(G), Large Preemie/Small Newborn(H)
Chain 45
Row 1:
DC in 3rd ch from hook and in the next 5 sts. 
dc, ch1, dc(corner) in next st,
dc in next 8 sts, corner in next st,
dc in next 12 st, corner in next st,
dc in next 8 sts, corner in next st,
dc in last 6 sts.
Turn, chain 3.

Rows 2-5: 
Dc in every DC including the ones on either side of the corner,
to the ch-1 sp, make corner in ch-1 sp,
Dc across to next ch-1 sp, corner in ch-1 sp,
dc across to next ch-1 sp, corner in ch-1 sp,
dc across to next ch-1 sp, make corner in ch-1 sp,
dc in remaining last space.  Turn, Chain 3.
For row five only, Turn and chain 1 not 3.

Row 6
SC over to the first ch-1 space.
Fold and join first 2 ch-1 spaces with a single crochet.
SC over to the next ch-1 space.
Fold and join last 2 ch-1 spaces with a single crochet.
SC to the end of row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach yarn at armhole.
Chain 3
Row 7 - 15
DC in each stitch over to opposite armhole.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 16 - 23
DC over to the middle of the row.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 23- do not turn and chain 3.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

Second Leg: Row 16 - 23
Attach yarn at first unworked DC of row 16.
Chain 3
DC in each of the unworked DC's.
Turn, Chain 3.
Row 23-

Do not turn and chain 3.
Fasten off and weave in ends.



Newborn(H or I), 0-3months(I)
Chain 49
Row 1:
DC in 3rd ch from hook and in the next 6 sts. 
dc, ch1, dc(corner) in next st,
dc in next 9 sts, corner in next st,
dc in next 12 st, corner in next st,
dc in next 9 sts, corner in next st,
dc in last 7 sts.
Turn, chain 3.

Rows 2-6: 
Dc in every DC including the ones on either side of the corner,
to the ch-1 sp, make corner in ch-1 sp,
Dc across to next ch-1 sp, corner in ch-1 sp,
dc across to next ch-1 sp, corner in ch-1 sp,
dc across to next ch-1 sp, make corner in ch-1 sp,
dc in remaining last space.  Turn, Chain 3.
For row six only, Turn and chain 1 not 3.

Row 7
SC over to the first ch-1 space.
Fold and join first 2 ch-1 spaces with a single crochet.
SC over to the next ch-1 space.
Fold and join last 2 ch-1 spaces with a single crochet.
SC to the end of row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach yarn at armhole.
Chain 3
Row 8 - 16
DC in each stitch over to opposite armhole.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 17 - 24
DC over to the middle of the row.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 24- do not turn and chain 3.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

Second Leg: Row 17 - 24
Attach yarn at first unworked DC of row 17.
Chain 3
DC to the end of the unworked dc's.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 24- do not turn and chain 3.
Fasten off and weave in ends.




6-9 months(I or J), 9-12 months(J or K)
Chain 56
Row 1:
DC in 3rd ch from hook and in the next 7 sts. 
dc, ch1, dc(corner) in next st,
dc in next 9 sts, corner in next st,
dc in next 16 st, corner in next st,
dc in next 9 sts, corner in next st,
dc in last 8 sts.
Turn, chain 3.

Rows 2-7: 
Dc in every DC including the ones on either side of the corner,
to the ch-1 sp, make corner in ch-1 sp,
Dc across to next ch-1 sp, corner in ch-1 sp,
dc across to next ch-1 sp, corner in ch-1 sp,
dc across to next ch-1 sp, make corner in ch-1 sp,
dc in remaining last space.  Turn, Chain 3.
For row seven only, Turn and chain 1 not 3.

Row 8
SC over to the first ch-1 space.
Fold and join first 2 ch-1 spaces with a single crochet.
SC over to the next ch-1 space.
Fold and join last 2 ch-1 spaces with a single crochet.
SC to the end of row.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Attach yarn at armhole.
Chain 3
Row 9 - 18
DC in each stitch over to opposite armhole.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 18 - 26
DC over to the middle of the row.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 26- do not turn and chain 3.
Fasten off, weave in ends.

Second Leg: Row 18 - 26
Attach yarn at first unworked DC of row 18.
Chain 3
DC to the end of unworked dc's.
Turn, Chain 3.

Row 26- do not turn and chain 3.
Fasten off and weave in ends.


For Basic design edging-

Girl:
Attach yarn to the back neck
Chain 3, 1 DC, Chain 2, 2 DC in same stitch.
*Skip 1 stitch,
2 DC, Chain 2, 2 DC in next stitch.*
Repeat *-* around the whole bib.  Down the sides you just do the *-* evenly down the side.
Slip stitch to beginning at the back neck.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Boy:
Attach yarn to the back neck
Chain 2
HDC evenly around bib.
Slip stitch to beginning at back neck.
Slip stitch around bib.
Slip stitch to beginning.
Fasten off and weave in ends. 

All sizes
Ties-
Neck: 
Chain 100
Fasten off.

Legs:
Chain 50
Fasten off.

Neck- Weave through edging.

Legs- Weave through last row of DC.


For the little preemies instead of using the ties on the legs, just crochet a little strap that goes across.
Or a small strap on each side and add a piece of velcro.
Ties are not good for the little ones with their thin skin.
